Developmental edits are finished! Now I enter the stage of copy edits. Who knew there were so many types of editing. These are a bit easier and a heck of a lot more fun. My wonderful editor Sue Brown, who's a wizard by the way, has made my first 4 chapters positively shine and I'm excited to see what happens with the next twenty-six chapters! These won't be done until spring. Good editors are very busy.
In the meantime, I'm busy working on a project close to my heart, and characters who have lives beyond my writing. Grant and Nicolette will appear in "The Forfeit" sooner than later, I hope. Stay tuned for more updates.
Every Time You're Near
Ruining her had ruined him.
Mitchell Harrison, the seventh Earl of Richfield, is a dangerous man, in the arms of the most daring ladies of the ton and in the shadows of London’s seedier back alleys. As a member of the Sub-Rosa order—a secret council that regulates politics through espionage and assassinations—he has made difficult choices and walked a razor’s edge between honor and ruthlessness, but the real threat is to his heart. Three years ago, debutante Lady Amelia Covington beguiled and abandoned him, making a fool of one of London’s most notorious and sought-after rakes. That is, if anyone had known about their tryst. Mitchell’s memories of the happiest time in his life, when lustful desire flooded good sense, are bittersweet, and he can’t escape them. Especially when he discovers Amelia working as a maid in his home. The end of their love affair had not been amiable, and for three years they’ve had no contact. He considers her the enemy, and now she is back in his space and in his head. Ruining her had ruined him, and if unrequited love hasn’t killed him yet, nothing can
Lady Amelia has spent the three years since her come-out as unwilling marriage bait for her abusive parents. They’re in debt beyond their means and, after embezzling funds from a lucrative opium trade, they disappear, leaving Amelia to fend for herself and answer for their appalling behavior. After only twenty-four hours of being abandoned, Amelia is confronted by a shady character dressed like a gentleman. He’s come to collect stolen funds that she knows nothing about. To make matters worse, she’s attracted the attention of the Sub-Rosa Order. The underground spy network has placed her at the top of their hit list and, unbeknownst to her, Mitchell Harrison, her neighbor and ex-lover, has been assigned to extract information from her at all cost. And killing her isn’t out of the question.
